Brasiliens Helikopter-Geschenk an Bolivien benötigt Erlaubnis der USA

Brasilien hat Bolivien vor sechs Monaten fünf Hubschrauber für die Bekämpfung des Drogenhandels geschenkt. Allerdings stehen die Maschinen immer noch in Brasilien, da die Regierung der Vereinigten Staaten noch keine Erlaubnis für diese Spende erteilt hat. "Die 

Maschinen des Typs [UH-1H] haben amerikanische Technologie und wir brauchen die Erlaubnis der Vereinigten Staaten, sodass die Brasilianer sie uns spenden können", erklärte der Bolivianische Präsident Evo Morales.

 

Er wies darauf hin, dass mit den Helikoptern eine 3.100 km lange Grenze überwacht werden soll, Hotspots des internationalen Kokain und Waffenhandels.  Die fünf Huey Hubschrauber wurden Bolivien im vergangenen April vom brasilianischen  Verteidigungsminister Nelson Jobim während seines Besuches in La Paz offeriert.
